Ways to help

GC Democracy Coaches (DCs)

GC Democracy Coaches (DCs) are much more than college volunteers. DC’s are dedicated and energetic leaders who are committed to extending their learning and influence beyond their college campuses, as they spend a semester or more coaching students in utilizing their own voices to drive civic change.

Student Leadership Board

Generation Citizen’s Student Leadership Board (SLB) is a 10-member team of high schoolers that supports our efforts to learn from our students’ experiences, better support alumni civic leadership development, and elevate student voice in the democracy education field. All GC alumni, ages 14-20, are encouraged to apply.

How you help Volunteer student leaders and teachers help us get closer to achieving our vision of young people working as active and effective citizens to collectively strengthen our democracy.
About us Generation Citizen believes every student has the right to learn how to effectively participate as citizens. We inspire civic participation through a proven state standards-aligned action civics class that gives students the opportunity to experience real-world democracy. Semester-long programs are led by a partnership between trained college-student volunteers and secondary school teachers. Students focus on issues and topics that are relevant to their lives and employ critical-thinking and strategic decision-making skills to effect positive change in their communities.
