Since its beginnings in 1865, The Salvation Army has always focused part of its work on helping children reach their full potential. Volunteer opportunities exist in the following areas:

Teaching Assistants: tutor, teach curriculum and mentor children ages 2-7.

After School Programs: help children build self-esteem, develop appropriate social behaviors and learn academic skills. Also, plan creative activities, play and work on arts and crafts projects.

Teen Mentors: work with and challenge youth on issues that affect their decisions and lives. Plan social activities, coach sports, play games and music and help with academic work.
