Our mission

To reduce and prevent future suicides from occurring, to bring attention to the causes of suicide, to eliminate the stigma of suicide, and to support the survivors of suicide victims.
Opportunities

Volunteer

Samaritans volunteers come from all walks of life, with different backgrounds and experiences. They have one thing in common…the desire to help another person in need. All prospective volunteers submit to a comprehensive application process, including a background check, participate in a mandatory 35-hour training program, and commit to serving
at least six months on the hotline.

About us

Samaritans is a non-religious charity, which provides confidential emotional support to any person who is lonely, depressed, or suicidal. Services are offered to the communities of Greater Fall River and Greater New Bedford. Samaritans befriend people in crisis and educate the public about suicide awareness and suicide prevention strategies.
