COVID-19 Intake Procedure

PURPOSE
This policy establishes revisions to the New England Center and Home for Veterans’ intake policy in response to the current COVID-19 pandemic.

POLICY
The New England Center and Home for Veterans remains committed to serving those experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are altering our intake procedure to further ensure the wellbeing of the residents and staff. NECHV cannot accept Veterans that use medical equipment such as: Oxygen, Nebulizer or a CPAP machine. Based on CDC and/or State guidelines, additional safety measures may be required.

The NECHV requires everyone to wear a mask inside of the building at all times.

PROCEDURES

1) Outside Referrals
Individuals referred by other institutions (e.g. VA), must first consult with Christine Tassia, Director, Veteran 360 Behavioral Health or her designee. She can be reached at [email protected] or by phone at O: (617) 371-1708 C: (781) 400-6798.

Providers can also complete this referral form electronically: Provider Referral Form

A NECHV staff person will call you back within one business day to discuss the referral. Please note, completion of the referral form, does not guarantee admissions.

Prior to intake, the exiting provider must provide proof of a “negative” COVID-19 test within the past 48 hours. Upon arrival, the client must be screened and cleared for entry by on-site clinical staff (Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program).

2) Walk-Ins
Prior to entry into the building intake, the client must provide proof of a “negative” COVID-19 test within the past 48 hours. The test results will be confirmed, and the client will be screened and cleared for entry by on-site clinical staff (Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program).

Please note, we can only accommodate a limited number of walk-ins per day. It is always best to call to schedule. Please contact Christine Tassia at [email protected] or by phone at O: (617) 371-1708 C: (781) 400-6798 to schedule.

3) Medical Monitoring
Clients approved for entry are required to meet daily with Clinic staff for health monitoring for the first five (5) business days upon entry.
