Our mission | Boston Cares mobilizes and trains individual and corporate volunteers who strengthen communities and improve the lives of people in need. We partner with schools and nonprofits with needs that can be filled by volunteer teams; then we recruit, train & lead reliable groups of volunteers who get the job done. |

Ways to help | Allies for Immigrants: ESOL Tutor CorpsAllies for Immigrants is a partnership between Boston Cares and English for New Bostonians aimed at engaging more volunteers in supporting English language learning and pathways towards citizenship for local immigrants. Volunteers participate in an initial training before serving as either a classroom aid or a conversation group leader, and commit to serving at least 2x month to provide consistency for the students. Allies combines Boston Cares’ signature flexibility with a focused commitment to a partner and the resources to make a measurable change.Calendar ProgramBoston Cares's signature calendar program provides opportunities for volunteers to sign up to serve at projects that fit their interests and availability on a flexible basis. Visit www.bostoncares.org/calendar to see and search opportunities by location, impact area, age requirements, and more.Corporate VolunteersBoston Cares has worked with over 400 private corporations of all sizes to engage employees in volunteer community service. If you’re looking to launch your company’s first community service event, we have the experience, connections, and mission to guide you every step of the way so your organization’s volunteering experience goes smoothly, is engaging and meaningful for participants, and makes a difference in the community. In response to the pandemic, we are now offering virtual volunteer opportunities for a wide variety of impact areas and group sizes!Volunteer LeadersVolunteer Leaders (VLs) are an integral part of the Boston Cares experience. They serve as a liaison between volunteers, agency partners, and Boston Cares to ensure a positive experience for all. Every project posted on our calendar is first picked up by a VL - without VLs, there would be no projects on our calendar for volunteers to serve our community!Virtual VolunteeringIn response to the pandemic, Boston Cares has worked with our community partners to identify ways volunteers can support local needs from the safety of their own homes. Opportunities include DIY projects at home, virtual/phone support, tutoring, and capacity building roles, with more needs being added regularly. |
