About us | Founded in 1877 as an orphanage, The Chase Home in Portsmouth is one of the oldest nonprofit entities in New Hampshire and has been committed to helping at-risk children in dire circumstances live happier and healthier lives for more than 140 years. In recent decades, we have moved away from the orphanage model and now serve as one of just 4 residential treatment homes for children and youth, ages 11 to 18. Residential treatment homes serve as an actual 24/7 home for kids in the toughest of circumstances. For other kids with less acute needs, but still serious, it means staff work in the communities to prevent placement in our home. More recently, The Chase Home has developed an innovative third arm of services to include prevention/early intervention programming. These services identify youth with risk factors that predict poor life outcomes and include evidence-based clinical and therapeutic supports designed to help them address the root causes of issues before they get worse. |
