Our mission	At Cross Roads House: We protect men, women and children of the Greater Seacoast area experiencing homelessness from exposure and hunger. We provide secure, transitional shelter for those seeking to break the cycle of homelessness. We support individuals and families by providing them with the opportunity to move with dignity and purpose to stable and decent housing.

Opportunities	Professional Skills Ensure our residents have access to a wide range of services by sharing your expertise. Some services include yoga instruction, haircuts, tax preparation, credit repair classes, and more. Please contact our Volunteer Coordinator to discuss an opportunity that’s right for your skillset. Weekly, Monthly Adults Individuals Indoor Skilled Weekdays, Evenings, Weekends Child Care Provide child care for some of our young residents while their parents attend meetings or skill-building workshops at the shelter. Typically, two to three volunteers work together to provide child care for a small group of children, but one-on-one care may be needed. All childcare is provided on-site, in public areas of the shelter. Weekly, Monthly Adults Individuals Indoor On-site, Formal Weekdays, Evenings, Weekends Donation Pickups Transport donations from locations throughout the community to Cross Roads House. Donations vary in size and quantity and may include prepared food, bikes, or other large items. Occasional, Monthly Adults Individuals Physical, Outdoor On-site Weekdays, Evenings, Weekends Cooking & Serving Meals Prepare and serve breakfast or dinner meals for our residents. Some kitchen experience is helpful for this opportunity. Volunteers will work closely with our Kitchen Coordinator. Weekly, Monthly Adults Individuals Indoor On-site, Formal Weekdays, Evenings, Weekends Moving Assistance Help shelter residents by picking up and transporting their belongings from Cross Roads House or an off-site storage unit to their new home. Weekly, Monthly Adults Individuals, Groups (2-10) Physical, Indoor, Outdoor On-site, Formal Weekdays, Evenings, Weekends Group Service Days If your company, church group, or organization is interested in helping Cross Roads House, we’d love to host you for a group day of service. We regularly need help with landscaping, painting, cleaning, and other tasks that help maintain the shelter. Please contact our Volunteer Coordinator to discuss this opportunity. One-time, Occasional Adults Groups (2-10), Corporate Teams Physical, Indoor, Outdoor On-site Weekdays, Evenings, Weekends

How you help	The success at Cross Roads House would not be possible without the help of our volunteers. Whether you can give a couple of hours a week or a couple of hours a month, we would appreciate your time and energy.

About us	Cross Roads House is a homeless shelter located in Portsmouth, NH, USA. We provide emergency and transitional shelter and services to homeless individuals and families. Our service area includes Rockingham, Strafford, and Southern York, ME counties. We also operate a soup kitchen for our residents that offers a hot, nutritious meal seven days a week.
