Ways to help

DHSM Mentor

DHSM mentors run alongside youth and help them train for and complete the Providence Marathon or Half Marathon by providing companionship, motivation, and support. Mentors run as part of the whole team, but are specifically matched in "running families" consisting of 4-6 mentors and 8-12 students. No prior running experience is required to volunteer for this program however mentors must be committed to training alongside their students.

About usDreamfar High School Marathon (DHSM) is New England’s first high school marathon training program. We are a Greater Boston-based program that teaches high school students that anything is possible, even completing a marathon. With hard work, perseverance and guidance from dedicated mentors, our runners realize their potential as they train for the Providence Marathon. We teach our students realistic goal-setting and the value of commitment and teamwork – skills that ensure success in the classroom, on the road, and beyond.
