Ways to help | College Success MentorsHelp develop a personalized approach to help their mentee reach their goals and earn their degree. Talk through the more confusing parts of college, like understanding a course syllabus, approaching professors, or proofreading class assignments. Share methods of problem-solving, personal insights, and experiences. Define and achieve educational and personal goals, helping mentees find resources and make more informed choices and providing encouragement throughout their college experience.EVcorps TutorEVcorps tutors are students recruited from top universities who commit to a multi-year, one-on-one tutoring and mentoring relationship with an inner-city child or teen. EVcorps tutors partake in ongoing trainings and reflections with peers on their service experience. EVcorps tutors average two years of service and graduate from EVkids to become life-long agents of positive social change.Gala CommitteeHelp plan the annual Expanding Horizons Gala. The Committee is made up of the Development Team, members of the Board, and donors who plan the Gala’s theme, award nominees, put together the program, auctions, and so much more!Gala VolunteerHelp set up, take down, and keep the party going before, during, and after the Gala. A Gala Volunteer can get a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into creating the Gala while having fun at the same time.Young Professionals CommitteeHelp plan the Gala Afterparty, as well as Beers for Bright Futures at Harpoon Brewery in the spring. This Committee consists of local young professionals passionate about helping Boston youth, and works to keep people engaged year-round in the EVkids mission through networking and fun activities. |

About us | Through the weekly after-school Tutoring Program, annual Camp in the summer, and the College Success Project for high schoolers, EVkids provides a continuum of services to help low-income, academically vulnerable children and teens (beginning in grades 4-12) succeed in school and life by systematically strengthening core academic skills, organizational habits, and other life skills. By building a caring community of support, where success is expected and achievable together, we believe our EVkids and their EVcorps tutors will become integral parts of a more socially just and compassionate world. |
