Ways to help | Volunteer AdvocateAs a volunteer advocate you will serve as a confidential source of support and information for those affected by sexual and domestic violence through our 24-hour hotline. In addition, advocates accompany survivors to the hospital directly after an assault has occurred or to the police station to report a crime.AmeriCorps Victim Assistance Program (AVAP)AVAP is part of AmeriCorps, a national service program that offers opportunities to Americans who are interested in making a substantial commitment to serve their country through national service. AVAP Members placed with crisis centers will become advocates who support victims of domestic and sexual violence and stalking.Outreach and Events VolunteerLearn how to spread the word about HAVEN services and prevention education programs and help us fulfill our mission of Ending Violence and Changing Lives. Outreach volunteers may also assist HAVEN by distributing outreach materials to various businesses, hospitals and other agencies in Strafford and Rockingham Counties.Board of DirectorsJoining the Board of Directors is an excellent opportunity to apply your skills and leave a lasting impact on our agency and the clients we serve. Board Members agree to serve a three-year term and are actively engaged in fundraising, promoting the organization and serving on at least one sub-committee.Volunteer EducatorAs a Volunteer Educator you will be working directly with elementary students in Southeastern New Hampshire. The program you will present with a staff educator will be focused on personal body safety. A minimum of 1 calendar year commitment is required to be a Volunteer Educator with 4-6 full school days per month to start.Front Desk VolunteerAs a front desk volunteer you will help greet guests and walk-in clients in our reception area at our Portsmouth office and provide support for a range of office tasks and projects. This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about the agency’s operations and to gain valuable administrative experience. |
