Ways to help | Group VolunteeringHost a holiday-themed activity at Penelope's Place for the shelter families. Organize your workplace or community to donate toiletry items, home furnishings, baby items, and gift cards for residents in out shelter, families participating in Healthy Families, or individuals in the PASS program.Violence Intervention and PreventionMeet with survivors in local hospitals to provide information, resources, and emotional support. Answer the 24 hour domestic and sexual violence hotline at A New Day. Co-facilitate educational workshops in the community. Represent the programs at outreach events by providing information to potential clients about our services.OutreachStaff event tables for the WIC program at outdoor festivals and weekend farmers markets. Provide translation services to help us create multi-lingual promotion and outreach materials. Organize an on-campus campaign or event to raise awareness about domestic violence and sexual assault. Hang flyers in your community about available services.Penelope's Place Domestic Violence ShelterParticipate as a peer mentor for a survivor of violence by supporting goals around housing, education, employment, financial empowerment, and health & wellness. Provide childcare while parents are in meeting or counseling sessions. Co-facilitate emotional and physical health and wellness workshops. Host an arts and crafts activity for the children at the shelter. Make a meal for the residents of the shelter or provide recipes to residents to use.Health Intervention and PreventionSupport administrative tasks at various HIP offices by organizing and arranging files, purging paper charts, scanning records, updating patient referral information, etc. Provide office support and reception at various HIP offices answering phones, making reminder calls to clients, greeting clients, and providing childcare while parents are in appointments. Provide childcare to families at our Family Planning clinics during appointments. Compile and maintain a resource board with information about community partners and services. |

About us | Health Imperatives is a non-profit community based agency that provides vital health and human services to nearly 30,000 families and individuals each year from communities stretching from Quincy to Nantucket. We offer resources for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault; sexual and reproductive health services; outreach, prevention, and education initiatives; family support programs; support for LGBTQ adolescents; and primary care for adjudicated youth. |
