Our mission	To protect the Piscataqua Region’s maritime heritage and environment through education and action.

Opportunities	Interpreter Share your knowledge of gundalows and our region at our welcome center, Sheafe Warehouse or at our podium in Prescott Park. Don’t know anything about gundalows or our region? Don’t worry! We’ll train you! Occasional, Weekly, Monthly 55+, Adults Individuals Indoor, Outdoor Formal Weekdays, Weekends Educator Assist professional crew during onboard education programs and public sails. Teach during our shore side education programs or in the classroom. Volunteer as educators during our summer camp programs. Weekly, Monthly 55+, Adults Individuals Indoor, Outdoor Formal Weekdays, Weekends Maintenance Help with projects onboard Piscataqua as needed, especially during uprig, downrig, and annual spring haul-out. Help remove the winter cover at the start of the season and build the cover at the end of the season. Assist in maintaining the docks and small boats as needed. Weekly, Monthly 55+, Adults Individuals Indoor, Outdoor Formal, Skilled Weekdays, Weekends Office and Marketing Assist in the office as needed for data entry and office assistance tasks. Help with marketing by distributing flyers around the seacoast area. Help to table during festivals and fairs. Weekly, Monthly 55+, Adults Individuals Office work On-site, Formal Weekdays Operations and Events Help us step up our events to the next level. Work with staff on several existing and new events to help raise awareness of our mission and funding for our programs. Occasional, Monthly 55+, Adults Individuals Event support On-site, Formal Weekdays, Evenings, Weekends Stewards Potential projects include: collecting data throughout the year as part of our citizen science monitoring projects, helping organize and run clean up events, and spreading the ‘action’ message of our mission. Weekly, Monthly 55+, Adults Individuals Indoor, Outdoor Formal Weekdays, Weekends Volunteer Deckhands Assist the professional deckhands and captain onboard Piscataqua before, during, and after sails. Help with projects onboard Piscataqua as needed. Handle lines and assist professional crew and captain with vessel operations. Learn how to assist in responding to emergency situations onboard. Weekly, Monthly 55+, Adults Individuals Outdoor Formal Weekdays, Evenings, Weekends

How you help	Our outreach is successful thanks to enthusiastic volunteers who teach, interpret, and promote our mission, as well as serving as deckhands to maintain and sail the boat.

About us	Thousands of students each year spend a few hours sailing onboard the world’s only Piscataqua Gundalow. They learn how gundalows were built here to carry lumber, salt marsh hay, oysters, bricks, pipe staves and coal on the shallow rivers where big ships could not go. Through a series of hands-on activities, students get a glimpse of the past 300 years on the working waterfront, and explore issues like water quality, habitat protection, stewardship, navigation. It is our belief that the Gundalow Company is well-positioned to collaborate with partners to generate publicity, awareness, and action relating to the health of the Piscataqua Maritime Region and the Great Bay Estuary.
