Ways to help

Helping the Homeless

Our Legal Clinic for the Homeless program provides legal assistance to the homeless at eight shelter locations. We partner with volunteer lawyers from law firms and corporate legal departments. Lawyers are also invited to join our Legal Clinic Panel, composed of volunteer attorneys that handle pro bono cases with the assistance of the Clearinghouse’s resources and mentoring capacity.

Engaging Senior Lawyers

The Access to Justice Fellows Program pairs lawyers who are retired or transitioning to retirement with non-profit and legal services organizations to provide critical assistance to underserved individuals and community and public interest groups.

Volunteer to Serve Non-Profits

Our Legal Referral Program connects Massachusetts nonprofits with volunteer lawyers. We also offer in-depth legal reviews of nonprofit operations through our Legal Assessment Program. Additionally, lawyers may volunteer with our Pro Bono Consultation Series, which offers an opportunity to assist a nonprofit on discrete topics such as policy review in a clinic-style setting.

How you help With limited resources, we maximize community impact by streamlining the way lawyers volunteer their skills.
About us The Clearinghouse bridges the gap between lawyers who want to volunteer and nonprofits and homeless people who need their help. Lawyers want to take pro bono cases, but scarcely have the time to research opportunities. Nonprofits need legal help, but can rarely afford an attorney. The homeless and at-risk population needs someone to speak for them. Through our connections to a network of lawyers at top Massachusetts law firms, we serve several communities.
