Our mission

We expand volunteerism and service in Massachusetts by providing individuals and organizations with funding, training, and support, which enables them to strengthen communities and make our Commonwealth a better place to live.
Opportunities

Volunteer

In 2010, MSA received a Volunteer Generation Fund grant from the Corporation for National and Community Service to support the capacity of volunteer connector organizations to recruit and retain volunteers, and develop strategies to effectively use volunteers to solve local problems across the Commonwealth. As the state commission on service and volunteerism, MSA is excited to collaborate with volunteer connectors at the local level to improve our communities.

About us

The Massachusetts Service Alliance (MSA), established in 1991, is a private, nonprofit organization. As the state commission on volunteerism and service, we generate collaboration and public-private partnerships at the local, state and federal level to grow volunteerism and service initiatives in MA. Our strong partnerships with local, state, and federal agencies allow us to mobilize funding to advance service and volunteerism through the AmeriCorps, Commonwealth Corps, and Volunteer Generation Initiatives programs. We are attuned to the Commonwealth’s current needs, strategically harnessing service members and volunteers to respond to emerging issues affecting Massachusetts residents and developing programs that address those areas. We support organizations with varying missions improving education, housing, health, the environment, workforce development, to increase volunteerism and service in all areas of critical need.
