Volunteering as a group at More Than Words is a dynamic, hands-on activity that will advance our mission, promote team-building, and include the chance to meet and talk with our youth about their business. During your time with us, you will help MTW youth on their business job: sorting books, processing orders, and picking books to sell in our storefronts.

Run a drive at your work, school, place of worship, or in your community and collect books for our youth-run business! All of our books are donated and you can help fuel our enterprise and spread the word about our efforts. We make it easy for you: we’ll drop off supplies and come pick up the books when you’re done.

How you help Our youth show up to More Than Words every day, working hard to take charge of their business and their lives. They would love to show you how it’s done. There are many ways for you to join the More Than Words team to support their business and personal goals.
About us More Than Words is a job training and youth development program that empowers nearly 350 youth each year to take charge of their lives by taking charge of our approximately $3.5M bookselling business. We work with the most vulnerable young adults in Greater Boston: those who are in the foster care system, court involved, homeless, or out of school. At More Than Words they earn a paying job, working approximately 20 hours per week in our businesses learning critical customer service, technology, inventory management, and leadership skills. They also work a second paying “YOU” job, attending workshops and site visits and receiving focused support to ensure they persist in school and map plans for their future work, education and life.
