Our mission

Our mission is to empower youth in foster care to flourish through committed mentoring relationships and the development of essential life skills. Silver Lining Mentoring is the only mentoring organization in Massachusetts that exclusively serves youth in foster care.
Opportunities

Project Volunteers

If you have personal or professional skills to lend to Silver Lining Mentoring (e.g. graphic design, social media analytics, data processing, event planning, photography, etc), we welcome the opportunity to explore how these skills may be used in support of Silver Lining Mentoring’s mission.

Mentor

Become a long term volunteer mentor to a young person in foster care. SLM mentors have the opportunity to build meaningful connections and support youth in learning essential life skills, including financial literacy and work-readiness in preparation for adulthood.

How you help

Silver Lining Mentoring (SLM) is currently in need of dedicated, caring volunteers to get involved with our work! You don’t need a special background to be a volunteer, just a desire to support our mission.
About us

Founded in 2001, Silver Lining empowers foster youth in Greater Boston to thrive through committed mentoring relationships and the development of essential life skills. We provide long term one-to-one mentoring and life skills development for young people who have been removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect. Our volunteer mentors are often the only adults in our youth’s lives who are not paid to spend time with them.
