Our mission

The Ecumenical Community Food Pantry of Norwood, Inc. serves over 350 families in the towns of Norwood and Westwood. We run 100% on volunteers!
Opportunities

Youth Volunteer

We welcome all types of volunteers- stockers, helpers, cleanup.

Saturday Morning Help

Saturday volunteers commit to working one Saturday a month. Help is needed for the following volunteer positions: Adults to escort clients through the pantry to shop 7:55-11 am, Youth volunteers (age 12 and above) to help clients carry bags 8-11 am, Pre-shopping set up 6:45-8 am, Post-shopping clean up 10:30-11:15am​.

Drivers Needed

The Pantry depends on volunteers to pick up food from local stores and also to help deliver food to the homes of clients with disabilities. In addition, we also distribute food to other community pantry organizations based on need.

Prepare the Pantry

We need volunteers throughout the week to sort food, stock shelves in the warehouse and pantry and help prepare the pantry for “shoppers” on Saturday mornings. Stocking and sorting volunteers must be able to lift 50lbs.

How you help

While it’s easy to get caught up in a hectic, overly scheduled life, volunteering can actually make you feel like you have more time! According to Feeding America, there was a surprising finding by the Harvard Business Review that stated giving your time to a community cause actually makes you feel like you have more of it. We feel that volunteering enables you to give back to others while nurturing your soul. Volunteering is also a great way to spend time with your family, neighbors or community organization.
About us

The Pantry opened its doors at Grace Episcopal Church on May 6, 1989 serving six clients. Since that time, the pantry has served over 2,500 families. ​ The pantry Board of Directors is comprised of elected officers, appointed members, and representatives from each of the participating churches and synagogue.
