In response to the pandemic, Boston Cares has worked with our community partners to identify ways volunteers can support local needs from the safety of their own homes. Opportunities include DIY projects at home, virtual/phone support, tutoring, and capacity building roles, with more needs being added regularly.

Boston Cares’s signature calendar program provides opportunities for volunteers to sign up to serve at projects that fit their interests and availability on a flexible basis. Visit www.bostoncares.org/calendar to see and search opportunities by location, impact area, age requirements, and more.

We offer a variety of opportunities to serve, for all ages and abilities.

Consider becoming a Blanketeer. We accept handmade quilts, knitted and crocheted afghans, and no-sew fleece.

Opportunities include sorting non perishable food that is still safe to eat so we can distribute the food to organizations serving people in need; assisting at fundraisers and reaching out to the public at local events. These activities may be appropriate for children over 8 years old and groups.

Community Service opportunities are available for scouts, sports teams, or other youth groups. Youth actively participate in hands-on activities to learn about families in need.
