AVAP is part of AmeriCorps, a national service program that offers opportunities to Americans who are interested in making a substantial commitment to serve their country through national service. AVAP Members placed with crisis centers will become advocates who support victims of domestic and sexual violence and stalking.

As a volunteer advocate you will serve as a confidential source of support and information for those affected by sexual and domestic violence through our 24-hour hotline. In addition, advocates accompany survivors to the hospital directly after an assault has occurred or to the police station to report a crime.

Some volunteers might choose to share their hobbies, talents and special interests, while others provide important emotional support to an individual by simply holding a hand or lending an ear. Volunteers can have regularly scheduled assignments or can come in to help with a specific event, such as a holiday party or a shopping trip…

There are also opportunities for junior volunteers between the ages of 14-18. These special volunteers assist in Webster at Rye’s intergenerational programs. They may help residents hand out treats to children at Halloween, assist in a weekly bowling game or teach someone how to use the computer.

Everyone has a talent to share, and one of the keys to RMCC’s success is tapping into a volunteer’s skills and passion, and then matching it with our needs. A volunteer can help out on the day of a fundraising event, or may be more involved in the committees that plan them. Volunteers may help…

There are many ways to support the mission of Seacoast Community School with a gift of your time: serve on an event committee, become a United Way Reader, sign up for a United Way Day of Caring, help maintain our playgrounds and indoor environments, sort library books, and more!

The volunteers of Strawbery Banke Museum give their time and talents to support the following activities: children’s programs, curatorial, education, archiving, horticulture, greeting, museum store, special events, traditional crafts, and archaeology.

These volunteers play a vital role in welcoming our visitors and providing the necessary information to make each visitor’s experience enriching. You will need to have a deep familiarity with cultural Portsmouth including the arts, theaters, historic houses and local history.

Gallery docents are a unique and important part of Discover Portsmouth helping to make each visitor’s experience to our visitor’s center and museum special. Docents proactively welcome visitors and provide information about Discover Portsmouth. These volunteers have an in depth knowledge of Discover Portsmouth’s current exhibit and are able to answer visitors’ questions.

We are looking for volunteers to assist with the planning and preparation of events, openings and symposiums at Discover Portsmouth. We have several parties and events already scheduled.
