Job Coaches/Career CounselorsAssist our job coaches by helping students develop interview skills and a sense of professionalism, providing or locating job shadowing opportunities for high school students, assisting with resume writing, helping with college research and/or college application process, or providing SAT coaching. Open Gym/Teen Open Gym CoordinatorOrganize games for youth at their skill level. Center Maintenance VolunteersAssist with maintenance tasks such as moping, washing windows, washing dishes, vacuuming, maintaining grounds, or assisting with one-time maintenance projects (i.e. painting, repair, etc.). Homework Lab Tutors & StorytellersProvide one-on-one assistance with homework or read with young children during homework lab to strengthen literary skills. Credit Counseling/BudgetingDevelop a financial management program for students and adults. Give a mini-lesson in basic money management skills (i.e. balancing a budget, building credit, interest rates, food purchasing, real estate, etc.). Guest SpeakersShare a motivational story about your life or career path or share about your expertise in a particular field with high school students. This could be something you’ve done research on, teach, or specialize in. Program FacilitatorsShare your talents, hobbies or interests by leading a weekly program (i.e. knitting, photography, book club, dance, geology, etc.). Office AssistantsHelp in the office by preparing mailings, providing general office help, or delivering flyers. Classroom Support StaffCook and/or serve snacks or help manage classroom, aid with attendance, help transitions from one activity to the next, etc. Fundraising AssistantsProvide contacts and ideas for funding sources, help organize and publicize events, or make an event of your own. This can be a one-time event or an event that takes place on a regular basis – your idea in action! Community Meal SupportPlan, prepare, serve, and clean a community meal. |

About us | The Seymour Osman Community Center and Youth Safe Haven (SOCC) is a private non-profit youth safe haven / police mini-station that is affiliated with the Dover Housing Authority. The SOCC aims to help children graduate from high school with a good work ethic, strong conflict resolution skills, clear goals for a better future, and the confidence that they can achieve their goals. |
